Ford recalls 4.5 million vehicles for cruise control fault

Over the years, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been recalling a number of older American-made models over the issue of “leaking” cruise control switches in certain brands. By 2008, the agency had recalled around 9.6 million vehicles to repair a faulty Texas Instruments cruise-control deactivation switch, and now after an NHTSA investigation, Ford is the target of the latest recall, adding 4.5 million Ford and Mercury vehicles to the list. 2006-2010 Audi TT & A3 NHTSA recall for fire hazard

Volkswagen is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2010 Audi A3, TT, and TT Roadster passenger vehicles manufactured between September 29, 2005 and August 26, 2009. The closing force of an internal spring of the fuel tank ventilation valve is not adequate enough to hold the valve closed under extreme driving conditions possibly allowing fuel to leak. Toyota recalling 3.8 million cars for floor mats

The NHTSA has alerted Lexus and Toyota owners about conditions that could cause the accelerator to get stuck in the fully-open position under certain conditions. The agency “strongly recommends” taking out removable floor mats on the driver’s side in certain models and not to replace them with any other mat, either from Toyota or any other brand. After numerous reported unintended-acceleration incidents, Toyota is now conducting a major recall on 3.8 million affected cars, but only in the United States. Continue reading »

Subaru Baja 2005-2006 models recalled

BMW 1-Series and 3-Series airbag recall

BMW is recalling all 1-Series and 3-Series models of the 2008 model year. Apparently some incorrect crimp connectors may have been used on the side airbag and belt-tensioner wiring. As a result sufficient contact between the crimp connectors and the corresponding plug may not occur which could lead to an increase in the electrical resistance of that connection. 2010 Chevy Camaro hit with first recall

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has barely been launched, and already it has been hit by a recall notice. Some owners are already reporting being affected by the defect. The culprit is a battery cable that runs from the trunk. Its insulation wears off from rubbing up against the starter and eventually causes a short, which ultimately causes the car itself to shut down. Only the V8-powered SS is affected. Continue reading »
