IIHS crash tests say sub-compacts less safe than expected

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, better known as the IIHS, conducted three front-to-front crash tests, each involving a sub-compact and a midsize model from the same manufacturer, to show how extra vehicle size and weight enhance occupant protection in collisions.
