Chrysler is planning to put their new 9-speed automatic transmission in three of their models, according to CEO Sergio Marchionne.

The first to get the new transmission will be the new Jeep Liberty successor, followed by the Dodge Dart and the next generation Chrysler 200. Marchionne, who also heads Fiat, said he wants to increase sales in the U.S. before the Italian car-maker completely takeover Chrysler.

The Dodge Dart suffered in sales after its debut in the U.S. last year, due to the fact they only released it with manual transmissions in the beginning, followed by dry dual-clutch automatic transmissions.

  1. To me that’s really good news! Not yet sold on DCT and didn’t really like CVT on rental Caliber. http://www.allpar.com/mopar/transmissions/ZF9.html
