Chrysler says Viper not for sale any more
Chrysler Group LLC has announced that production will continue for the legendary Dodge Viper SRT10. Originally slated to cease production in December 2009, the Chrysler Group Connor Avenue plant will continue to exclusively build the V10-powered sports car. The rejuvenated Chrysler Group is no longer pursuing a sale of Viper assets.
Chrysler was originally considering selling off the rights to the Viper instead of killing the nameplate. There seemed to be a lot of interested parties, including Roush and Saleen, but the dwindling economy led to just one lowball offer from Michigan-based Devon Motor Works.
The Viper’s production facility was already re-opened last month. To date, more than 25,000 Dodge Vipers have been built since its 1995 debut.
