Perennially controversial Texas-based tuning firm Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) is planning a highly modified 705 hp version of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro with a Corvette ZR1 engine, which it plans to launch early next year, but Hennessey is also launching a milder 562 hp Camaro, dubbed the HPE550. General Motors engineer Mark Stielow was originally part of GM’s High Performance Vehicle Group, but after that was disbanded in the bankruptcy-hit company, he has moved to the hybrid vehicle division.
