Highly-anticipated by the Honda community, the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show in October will mark the debut of the Honda CR-Z hybrid concept again, except this time it is a near-production version. The sporty-but-slow CR-Z, slated for Japanese production early next year, is a revival of the Honda CR-X from the 1980s. Based on the Civic of that time, with a tiny engine and decent suspension, it became somewhat popular among budget-minded Honda enthusiasts. The new CR-Z is expected to be exclusively hybrid. Hyundai of America boss John Krafcik says the Hyundai Velostar concept shown at recent auto shows is headed for production, likely to debut in 2011 as a 2012 model. He says it will look at least 70% like the Veloster concept, and will place itself firmly in the sport-compact category with unique styling features and great fuel efficiency. Honda has seriously committed to developing hybrid cars nowadays, after the success of the Insight and, to a degree, the Civic hybrid as well. In Japan, Honda plans to introduce a Fit hybrid as well. And now, Honda has also confirmed that a production version of the CR-Z concept will arrive within the next year as a compact hybrid coupe, according to the Japanese Best Car magazine.
