Volkswagen Jetta diesel wagon sales are hot

Volkswagen of America has announced sales numbers for June 2009. While 19,027 units, representing an 18% decrease over June 2008, is puny in the large scheme of things, it should be noted that Volkswagen moved 5,072 diesel models, representing an impressive 26% of total sales.
The Jetta SportWagen once again posted its best sales month ever, with 1,982 units moved. Clean diesel TDI’s accounted for 81% of SportWagen sales, 40% of Jetta sedan sales, and 29% of Touareg sales.
Volkswagen of America claims that U.S. consumers are starting to realize the many benefits of their clean diesels that attain more than 30% better fuel economy while emitting 25% less greenhouse gas emissions without sacrificing driving dynamics.
Volkswagen also announced today that they have been named a corporate leader in Strategic Visions Total Quality Index (TQI), although calling VW a leader in long-term quality might be pushing it.
