Pontiac G8 may come back as Caprice U.S. police car

The Pontiac brand was made redundant as part of GM’s restructuring, effectively taking with it the class-leading Pontiac G8 that was based on the Australian Holden Commodore. GM spokesmen have announced that the G8 will not be coming back as a Chevrolet product, even though it continues to be sold as a Chevrolet in various foreign markets. But after Bob Lutz let slip that the G8 would come back as a new-generation Chevrolet Caprice, GM CEO Fritz Henderson has backtracked, saying that it might come back only as a police vehicle. General Motors 72-Hour sale in effect

General Motors has announced a “72-Hour Sale,” running from July 1 to July 6, 2009, where low-rate financing of 0% for up to 72 months will be offered to “well-qualified buyers” on select 2009 and 2010 vehicles in dealer stock. The offer designed to clear stocks of slow-selling Chevy and GMC models, as well as Pontiac models from the dead-man-walking brand. Continue reading »

Pontiac G8 recall for two defects
