Pontiac G8 may come back as Caprice U.S. police car

The Pontiac brand was made redundant as part of GM’s restructuring, effectively taking with it the class-leading Pontiac G8 that was based on the Australian Holden Commodore. GM spokesmen have announced that the G8 will not be coming back as a Chevrolet product, even though it continues to be sold as a Chevrolet in various foreign markets. But after Bob Lutz let slip that the G8 would come back as a new-generation Chevrolet Caprice, GM CEO Fritz Henderson has backtracked, saying that it might come back only as a police vehicle.
