New York to survey residents about electric cars

The city of New York is going to survey 2,000 motorists to determine whether it can “induce” drivers to switch to electric cars, according to a report by The New York Post newspaper.
The Economic Development Corporation is soliciting bids for a quick study on factors that would encourage electric-vehicle adoption by the general public in the Big Apple.
The study, to be completed by September 30, comes as other municipalities around the country rush to join the clean-vehicle movement. Already, New York itself is playing with Nissan Altima Hybrid NYPD police cars, and Mini recently provided ten of its MINI E electric cars to the city for a year, to be used by the Street Condition Observation Unit, which prowls the city in search of potholes and graffiti.
