Fiat 500 to be standalone U.S. model

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that as part of the new Fiat-Chrysler, the Fiat 500 will be coming to the U.S. as a standalone model, much like the premium Mini brand within BMW’s line-up.
Other Fiat models will come the United States under Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep badges, while Alfa Romeo will be relaunched as a luxury brand.
The U.S. Fiat 500 will be built in Mexico, while some Alfa Romeo models may also be built on this side of the Atlantic, and exported to Europe.
