2010 Detroit Auto Show: Photo coverage

The North American International Auto Show, better recognized as NAIAS or even simply as the Detroit Auto Show, is normally the largest show of its kind every year, but the 2010 edition is a less grand affair than before, with a limited number of new launches and even fewer extravagant concepts. The flavor of the year seems to be environmentally-friendlier cars such as the Ford Focus and the Honda CR-Z, and near-production concepts such as the Chevrolet Aveo and the Cadillac XTS. Actual new models include the Ford Mustang GT 5.0, the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, the BMW Z4 sDrive35is, the Lincoln MKX and the Jeep Liberty Renegade, all variations of existing models. 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show: Photo coverage

2011 Ford Fiesta
The Los Angeles Auto Show is one of the smaller international motor shows, with numerous no-shows at the 2009 edition due to the recession. There are only two concept cars and maybe ten all-new models displayed. All-new cars to look out for include the 2011 Hyundai Sonata, the 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe, the 2011 Infiniti M and the 2011 Ford Mustang EcoBoost V6. To fulfill America’s new-found obsession with fuel economy, there is the Chevrolet Cruze, the Ford Fiesta and the Mazda 2. Rather than fresh models, there seems to be a high concentration of limited-edition models, including those for the Subaru WRX STI and the Scion xB, as well as final-edition models to say goodbye to cars such as the Dodge Viper ACR and the VW Beetle. 2009 Toyko Auto Show: Photo coverage

Concept Nissan Land Glider
You can always depend on the Tokyo Auto Show to have the most intriguing and the most wacky concepts. The 2009 edition of the show is no different. This is one event where the concepts outnumber the production car launches. However, this year’s hi-jinks is a bit muted due to various automakers pulling out, blaming the recession rather than poor management. Many of the concepts are hybrids or zero-emission vehicles, affirming the green slant of the show. Continue reading »
