Audi R8 Spyder V10 convertible unveiled

The entirely-predictable Audi R8 Spyder convertible will debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Sporting a cloth folding top, the R8 Spyder will only come with a V10 engine.

The 525 hp 5.2L V10 engine is optional on the regular coupe, but standard on the Spyder convertible. Other differences from the coupe include a windshield frame in brushed aluminum and shiny vented lumps on the engine lid behind the front seats. The “blades” of carbon-fiber on the side vents, a trademark of the coupe, have been removed.

The R8 Spyder will likely go on sale in the U.S. by early 2010, although it might make its movie debut before then, in Ironman 2.
