2010 Toyota Prius gets facelift and improved mpg

The Toyota Prius has become a fashion icon around the world for those who want to appear environmentally-conscious. It was the world’s first mass-produced four-door hybrid, powered by a petrol engine mated to an electric engine that recharged itself through regenerative braking technology. The current generation of the Prius is most recognizable, and Toyota has chosen to keep its existing shape for 2010, while updating some styling, tech and interior details.

Most obvious is a new face, reminiscent of the Yaris hatchback. Power is expected to go up slightly, thanks to a larger-displacement petrol engine, growing from 1.5L to 1.6L. Toyota has improved fuel economy up to 48 mpg by installing a more efficient powertrain with improved batteries for longer electric-only driving, as well as designing a lighter body though the extensive use of advanced composites in its construction.
