2010 Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 RSR revealed

Porsche has added yet another new variant to the latest generation of the 911 with the new GT3. Released alongside is the GT3 RSR racing version.

The new 911 GT3 is making its world debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March, with European sales starting in May, and American sales soon after that.

The 911 GT3 upgrades the 6-cylinder naturally-aspirated boxer engine to develop 435 hp, up 20 hp over its predecessor due to an increase in engine capacity by 200 cc, becoming a 3.8L powerplant.

The new GT3 accelerating from a standstill to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds and reaching 100 mph in 8.2 seconds. Top speed is 194 mph.

The new body kit add-ons double the downforce as well as gives the GT3 a new look further accentuated by the new bi-xenon headlights, LED rear lights, as well as modified air intakes and outlets.

Other features include PSM stability control that can be fully deactivated, active PASM adjustable suspension, new lighter wheels with central racing-style wheel nuts, ultra-high performance tires with tire pressure control, larger brake discs, improved brake ventilation, optional PCCB ceramic brakes, new PADM special engine mounts that recognize sporting driving and make stiffen the mounts, and an optional lift system for the front axle to raise the ground clearance on bumpy surfaces by 1.2 inches.

Porsche has also unveiled the latest iteration of its GT2-class racing car, called the GT3 RSR. New features compared to the previous model include new ducts, more adjustable rear wing, new multi-function display, relocated oil filler and a new air jack. The 6-cylinder grows further to become a 450 hp 4.0L with 317 lb-ft of torque, with a rev limited at 9000 rpm. The RSR will compete in the Le Mans series.

Expect the street-legal 911 GT3 to cost as much as $112,000 when it debuts in America. The racing version is offered to racing teams for $494,000.
