2010 Hyundai Equus to compete with Lexus

The Hyundai Equus, until recently only a Korean-market model, is headed for the U.S. by July 2010. A Hyundai insider says the Equus will be kept under $60,000 for the base model, competing against the $64,700 Lexus LS 460 on price.
Hyundai launched the first Equus in South Korea in 1999 and the second-generation model began selling there about three months ago. In Korea it is priced at the equivalent of about $50,000 and goes up to $81,000.

Power is from the same engines in the Genesis, a 3.8L V6 and the 4.6L V8. Only the V8 is earmarked for the United States.
There are about 100 Equus units currently being tested by dealers and consumers in the U.S. right now.
