2010 Buick LaCrosse rated Good in IIHS crash tests

There was a time when the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety had the toughest of safety standards, while the National Highway Traffic Safety Association gave out Five Star ratings freely. But many automakers have evidently picked up on what IIHS is looking for, and more and more new vehicles are receiving the top designation of “Good.”
To get the top score, stability control is mandatory, and features like side curtain airbags can help the score. Unlike NHTSA’s 35 mph impact speeds, the IIHS smacks concrete at 40 mph.
The 2010 Buick Lacrosse is all-new for 2010, and the IIHS found the newest Buick very worthy in front, side and rear impact collisions. As you might expect, the Lacrosse comes standard with stability control and side curtain airbags. It got a ‘Good’ rating.

It is such a shame that the 5-star crash rating for the 2010 Buick LaCrosse did not come out sooner. I have a friend who has been a loyal GM and Chrysler buyer for years and because of an accident recently, did not replace her Jeep with a GM or Chrysler product, but bought an Acura TL because of its 5-star rating. I believe that she would have bought the 2010 LaCrosse if its 5-star crash rating were known sooner. I believe that the Buick is a better car, especially in the “looks” department. China has been won over with the new Buicks. It’s time that American buyers get over their seduction from Japanese and German luxury cars.
I would also like to see a back-to-back comparison between a tricked-out 2010 Buick LaCross and the soon-to-be released Korean-built Hyuandi Equus you just reviewed.
