2009 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S at Detroit

The facelifted 2009 Maserati Quattroporte is now on sale at dealerships across the United States. The current range includes the standard Quattroporte as well as the Quattroporte S, while a new Quattroporte Sport GT S will debut at the upcoming 2009 Detroit Auto Show and soon join the line-up next year.

The facelift for 2009 includes a nose that is slightly longer, and incorporates a new grille as well as a reshaped bumper. The base Quattroporte comes with the existing 400 hp 4.2L V8, while the chrome-grilled Quattroporte S comes with a 430 hp 4.7L V8. Both come with a 6-speed automatic now, dumping last year’s annoying automanual. Other features include new HID headlights with LED lighting, new tails, various new leather and wood choices, new instrument cluster, reshaped seats, new multi-function steering wheel, and a new Bose multimedia system with navigation.

The upcoming new Quattroporte Sport GT S is being launched on the anniversary of their first long-forgotten Indianapolis 500 race win 70 years ago. To celebrate this event, the Sport GT S gets a recalibrated 433 hp 4.7L V8, thanks to ECU tuning and a sports exhaust system. The automatic gets revised shift points, while the suspension gets stiffer spring rates and the shocks are now fixed instead of variable, both contributing to a lower ride height. The cabin boasts new ‘M-design’ seats with perforated alcantara and leather upholstery, while the standard trim in Titantex, a “titanium colored” composite material.
