2010 Volkswagen GTI to show up at Paris

The new 2010 Volkswagen GTI will be showing up at the 2008 Paris Auto Show. Changes in performance are minimal, but the model shown is being dubbed a concept.

The front and rear of the MK6 GTI are completely new, but that is as far as cosmetic changes go, as even the rims are untouched. The turbocharged 2.0L engine has barely been touched, as VW probably just upped the boost to get a few more horses, bringing the total to 207 hp. The 6-speed manual and DSG automanual choices remain. The new GTI will also get an electronic limited-slip diff and some “active chassis” gimmicks that will adjust suspension settings based on road conditions.

The interior is completely similar to the previous one, even going as far as retaining the ugly upholstery.

Expect the production version to debut by the summer of 2009.

The new TFSI has been dyno’d by more than a few after market chip companies stock and chipped and it makes less power than the FSI due to lower compression. I think the new TFSI sucks and not surprised that VW screwed it up. VW is Europe’s version of Ford. The FSI was great but the new TFSI just plain sucks the power band is much weaker than the old FSI. Bollocks to the enw TFSI and the new GTI looks almost no different from the MKV.
