This Evo X version has, as usual, all-wheel-drive, a 2.0-litre turbo four, a six-speed manual or new automanual, trick differentials and sports suspension. Figures are not out yet, but expect at least 290 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. It will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

  1. Does anyone think that Mitsubishi is letting every Evo fan down by making the last Evo look like a Mazda6? It looks like Mitsubishi is giving in to the demands of the mediocre likes of the common puke oh I mean buyer. So they made it look like a docile piece of crap. Oh I am sure it’s fast. I don’t look at this model of the Evo and go wow this is a rally bred car that you can go rally, daily drive, and break off more than a few fools who call it a econobox loser. The new Evo X makes me think of Nissan and their owners Renault and how they made the new Skyline look like some glossed up supercar with waaaaayyyy too much French influence. The Skyline and Evo were never meant to be pretty or attractive they were meant to look mean and intimidating the new Evo looks like a car mom would pick her kids up from soccer in and if that’s what Mitsubishi was going for with the new Evo then they were successful at taking it’s bollocks away from it. I think it looks like a 4 door girl’s car so good job Mitsubishi at emasculating your only real good car left.

  2. Dude, you nailed it! I was looking so forward to the new Evo, but I’d rather buy an Evo IX.

  3. La-la-la, what the hell, the evo what happened to it. Wow, how long how I been gone, everything is now crumbled. The evo was GOD in the 6th edition, now it looks like some concept piece of s**t. It’s ok, nothing like some body kits can’t fix. But wait a second, the engine is now different, it doesn’t feel the same? What should Mitsubishi do, oh I know, stop hiring people that don’t know what their making. This car is GOD not some dog s**t, they better make more of them and they should do something old fashioned. Please, oh please people listen, there is nothing special about this edition but if I have money, I would still buy it… nah, I’ll just buy a Mitsubishi Mirage, put some evo body kits on it, custimize it with a diff. engine, and AWD, then I’ll just have the same evo 6. I RATHER SEE THE LANCER EVOLUTION VI RS-450, that thing is fast as s**t, 0 to 60 in 3.6 sec… cya, people with life and people dat dont care!!!

  5. Just simple and clean with this comment but… The body sux and the paddle-shift tranny prolly sux… I hate it. It’s nothing but sin and a spawn of satan. It doesn’t deserve to roll off the showroom floor.

  6. Saw a new VRX today, what a let down!!! I was going to order one of these off the book until the Evo arrived in Aust. Glad I held off!!
What a piece of crap. Looks like an Outlander sedan. If J-Lo had a behind like that she would still be Jenny from wherever.
Where is the wide pawed, road hugging, mean looking low rider we were promised? Instead we got a Corrolla clone. Would be more successful as a 4 x 4, oh yeah they already have one, the Marslander.
Think i’ll stick to my 0-100k in 6sec modified 2003 2 door CE. The best LANCER EVER!!!!!!!!!!

  8. strangely no has mentioned the prototype. i actually thought that was quite menacing looking. i’m a die hard classic Scooby fan – don’t think much of later models and hate the last.

the flat four burble would win me over every time despite the Evo’s greater technical ability, but i must say looking at the prototype for Evo X, i was certainly very interested. since seeing the production derivative, i am less than impressed!

why do manufacturers make the production cars so far off the prototypes… just gets our hopes up for nothing! so that’s it, no new Impreza or Evo for me – bar having great fun off and on road in a tuned Touareg V10, what else is there???

  9. I freaking hate it
the last EVO had a total of 390 whp
    now they tuned it down?
what is wrong with those mitsubishi people
it even looks like the 2008 lancer but with hood scoops
this new model is absolutely dreadful and should be discontinued

  10. The best ever they have produced was EVO VI, it was really great car. It was car for a driver, the new evo is more a comfortable sport car with a lot of electronics. Too much. No more driving satisfaction.

  11. Why did everyone posting to this forum follow the lead of the first guy? I just finished reading ten letters from people ALL bashing the new EVO X. Are you guys seeing the same car that I am seeing? What kind of look would make the car appeal to you? It’s gorgeous! And exactly how fast do you want it to go? I think this supposedly slow car does about 170mph. Heck, it’s only a shade slower than a 12 second quarter mile from the factory! How much horsepower do you want them to provide? Isn’t 291hp good enough? Go buy a $750.00 kit and flash an extra 75 horses into the onboard computer if you have an itch for more power. The guys at Mitsubishi have to sell cars to stay in business. And they can’t make the Evo a track only car and still keep a corporate roof over their heads. They need to appeal to BOTH hard core racers ad those proverbial (huge) huddled masses who want the car less spartan and more something that includes amenities from both the racer world and the drive to work set. I DO NOT want to trade in my power windows and 650 watt sound system for an extra eyeblink worth of acceleration to freakin 60mph.
I have the gonads to say what I like without having to jump on the consensus bandwagon. I ADORE the new body style. It looks like a shark ready to devour Subarus and Camaros and V-8’s and Italian cars and the whole lot! Do you really expect Mitsubishi to give it 400 horsepower? You can drive your Evo 3’s and any other obsolete high horsepower car you wanna drive. I am living in the now. The Evo X IS now.
I am the proud owner of a 158hp 2008 LANCER GTS.
The GTS has ground effects and a spoiler so it looks racerlike. The paddleshifter is awesome. EVERYBODY admires it when I drive by. Strangers stop me to tell me I have a cool ride. As soon as I amass the funding I am going to step up to the Evo X. I can’t wait to get my EVO X with its seriously flared fenders and three hood scoops and fender scoops and HUGE spoiler and badass ground effects and enlarged cooling area for several massive radiators it looks like a potent badass firebreather. And it’s certainly fast enough for me…and fast enough for the bazillions of people who can’t afford one and love to see them whizzing by. And the rest of the people who think they are too slow can all team up to commiserate while I drive by in my Evo with somebody’s sister in my passenger seat loving life, the wind in her hair from the sunroof, and not giving a rat’s ass that it’s giving up 24 horsepower to a stupid STI.

  12. CORRECTION: THE EVO IS GIVING UP ONLY 14 HORSEPOWER TO AN STI; NOT THE 24 HORSEPOWER STATED IN MY EARLIER POSTING.
